Lago Titicaca, Bolivia (14 Mar 2007 - 17 Mar 2007)

At a breath-defying 3,812 meters above sea level (12,507 feet), Lake Titicaca is the world´s highest commercially navigable lake.

Puno, Peru

Not really much to write about Puno. The lake was green from algae and was not very picturesque.

Copacabana, Bolivia

Copacabana is neither hot nor north of Havana, but it is still worth visiting. The lake on the Bolivian side was certainly more pleasing to the eye.

Isla del Sol, Bolivia

A short boat ride from Copacabana lies Isla del Sol, the Incan mythological creation site and the birthplace of the sun. It was on this island that the first Incas appeared, Manco Capac and his sister-wife Mama Huaca. The island hosts several ruins, but they were unimpressive in the shadow of our recent visit to Machu Picchu. The natural beauty of the shimmering lake and the towering Andes, however, was absolutely breathtaking.
